The weaving craft of Tibetan carpets has a long history. Tibetan carpet production is widespread across Tibet, with Gyantse and Lhasa being the most renowned centers. Gyantse is the birthplace of the Ka carpet, with a history spanning over 600 years. Gyantse Kha rugs are distinctive not only for their uniform wool and superior quality but also for their unique dyeing techniques. Aside from red and black dyes, all other colors are extracted from local tree leaves, grass roots, and minerals. These homemade dyes produce vibrant, long-lasting colors that embody the rich charm of the plateau and a distinctive ethnic style.
